When should you apply UDL?
If your answer is yes to any one of these questions, use Universal Design for Learning when creating your plan (designing) and putting that plan into action (applying).

- Does the task require people of any age to demonstrate understanding?
- Does the task require people of any age to apply the information?
- Does the digital or non-digital resource you’re creating or applying help people of any age to learn?
- Does the digital or non-digital resource you’re creating or applying help specific people of any age to learn?
- Does the task require people to apply what they are learning or have learned?
- Do you want every person involved in the task to gain skills toward being self-motivated and identifying their own purpose in learning?
- Do you want every person involved in the task to gain knowledge and know how to choose the resources that will help them learn?
- Do you want every person involved in the task to gain strategic skills and know how to create and apply goals toward learning?
